Bowie’s Impressions of Iggy, Neil, Lou, Bruce, Tom Waits…

Well, this is a fun little artifact.

During a 1985 recording session while Bowie was laying down the theme song to Absolute Beginners, he had a little fun singing the song in the style of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Iggy Pop, and Lou Reed.

As Bowie says in the session: he’s “just f*cking about”. Some of the musicians he impersonated during the session are dear of friends of his, so we know it’s all in good fun
