Eddie Hinton

“I want to make a record that a black man would buy and he would be unaware that a white man had made it!” – Eddie Hinton

Well, he certainly did that. From the moment you hear Eddie Hinton sing, you would swear it was Otis Redding.

Hinton was an Alabama session-man who recorded with Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge, The Box Tops, Otis Redding, Elvis Presley, and many more.

Rumor has it, that Duane Allman once tried to hire Eddie Hinton to be a member of the Allman Brothers Band, but Hinton turned down the offer in order to gain experience as a session-man, and eventually record his debut album, Very Extremely Dangerous.

Q: Is it southern rock? Is it R&B?
