David Bowie would have turned 75 on this upcoming January 8th, but there will still be a party.
Def Leppard‘s Joe Elliott, along with Simon Le Bon and John Taylor from Duran Duran, Living Colour, Gary Oldman, Rob Thomas, Ricky Gervais and others will take part in the livestream event on that day.
The backing band will be led by longtime Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson and will feature numerous Bowie band alumni such as Earl Slick, Charlie Sexton, Omar Hakim and Carmine Rojas, along with such guest singers as Gail Ann Dorsey, Bernard Fowler, and Sting‘s son, Joe Sumner.
“It’s an honor to be able to continue to share David Bowie’s music with the world,” says Garson. “I’m excited for everyone to be able to experience this very special show we’ve got in store in celebration of what would have been David’s 75th birthday with the bandmates he recorded and performed with, plus a great group of guest artists who he was such an influence to.”
The event will be dedicated to Bowie friend and photographer Mick Rock who died last month.
