Steve Perry has collaborated with the sons of a couple of his contemporaries.

The former Journey vocalist and The Effect have released a re-recording of Journey’s “It Could Have Been You”, which originally appeared on the 1986 2x-Platinum album, Raised on Radio.

The Effect features guitarist Trevor Lukather (son of Toto’s Steve Lukather), Toto’s Steve Maggiora on keyboards, and Phil Collins’ son Nic Collins on drums.

Steve Perry announced the collaboration on social media:

In 1986 the Journey “Raised on Radio” record was released and in it was a song I’ve always felt was a diamond in the rough.

I’ve known Trevor Lukather since he was 9 years old and he is a very gifted musician. One day we were talking about his new band, The Effect… He surprisingly mentioned “It Could Have Been You” is one of his favorite tracks from that record, I told him I felt the same.

I then said, why don’t you record it? He asked if I would sing on it if they did, I said… “Of course my most precious!” I must say, singing on their powerful track brought out a vocal experience in me from years ago !

So now… Releasing on May 7th on all social’s and streaming is a very powerful reimagined version of,

“It Could Have Been You” by… The Effect.

Have a listen!

-Sincerely, Steve Perry

We heard from some couples about how vividly they remember their first time… and how they can barely remember their last time together, plus the most expensive thing you’ve ever lost (hard to beat all the wedding ring stories) and we’re hoping Aaron Rodgers will torture Zepp as a Steeler next season.

RIGHT ON THE MONEY: Zepp nails his Big Game prediction from Friday with a Philly blow out last night, plus the Hot Air Balloon Mile High Club and the very strange way they treated one Minnesota for the flu when he was on a cruise.
