How many bands can claim this honor?

As the InSight robotic lander crawled across the surface of Mars last year, it came across a rock, which NASA has now named for the Rolling Stones.

Taking the stage before the Brit rockers’ show in Pasadena on Thursday night, actor Robert Downey Jr. informed them about the finding, dubbed the “Rolling Stones Rock.”

Roughly the size of a golf ball, officials at the space agency saw the rock roll about 3 feet, hence the title.

“NASA has given us something we have always dreamed of, our very own rock on Mars. I can’t believe it,” frontman Mick Jagger said, joking, “I want to bring it back and put it on our mantelpiece.”
