The title track from Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming album, Ordinary Man, will feature an unlikely duet with one of Osbourne’s fellow Englishmen.
Elton John not only plays piano on the track, but he also shares vocal duties.
Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, who plays drums on the album, says “We decided, ‘Well, the song has a piano. Who is a really good piano player? I don’t know. Let’s get the Rocket Man.'”
Then, after recording the track at Elton’s home in Atlanta, Smith says, “we’re like, ‘Why don’t we have him sing a verse?'” While some might wonder how well the singers’ different styles would mesh, Smith says the result was “f***ing awesome.” He adds, “These two iconic legendary English f***ing rockers that have been through it all are singing about the end of their lives. ‘I don’t wanna die an ordinary man.’ And it’s f***ing great.”
Ozzy’s new album, Ordinary Man, now has a release date of February 21.
