One April 7, legendary singer-songwriter (often referred to as “your favorite songwriter’s favorite songwriter”) John Prine died at age 73 after complications related to COVID-19.
Social media has seen an outpouring of love and tributes to Prine in the week since he’s passed, including from Bruce Springsteen.
Over here on E Street, we are crushed by the loss of John Prine. John and I were “New Dylans” together in the early 70s and he was never anything but the lovliest guy in the world. A true national treasure and a songwriter for the ages. We send our love and prayers to his family.

Over the weekend, Roger Waters broke his silence over his friend’s death by paying tribute to Prine with a cover of “Paradise” from Prine’s self-titled Grammy-nominated debut album.
“Paradise” is a song that John Fogerty also covered on his 2009 album, The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again.
