The collaboration between Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock and Duane Allman stands as one of the greatest one-off supergroups of all time.
Duane Allman would contribute lead guitar to 11 of the album\’s 14 tracks.
Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000, and the reissue won the Grammy for Best Surround Sound Album in 2012.

AUGUST 24, 2021: CHARLIE WATTS DIES
Nearly 60 years after joining the Rolling Stones, the legendary Charlie Watts has died.

AUGUST 25, 1975: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN RELEASES BORN TO RUN
Springsteen\’s breakthrough album peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200.
The title track is far and away Springsteen\’s most played song in concert.
With 6 million sold in the US, it remains his 2nd biggest album behind the massively successful Born In the USA (20M in sales worldwide).

AUGUST 27, 1990: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN DIES
SRV boarded a helicopter after an Alpine Valley show of classic songs including \”Tightrope\”, \”Pride and Joy\” and \”Voodoo Child (Slight Return)\”.
Limited visibility, due to fog, resulted in the helicopter crashing shortly after takeoff.
He was 35.

AUGUST 27, 1992: JOHN LENNON\’S LYRICS FETCH $100,000
In 1986, the estate of Mal Evans, asst. to the Beatles, discovered John Lennon\’s handwritten lyrics among Evans\’ personal diaries.
Lennon\’s handwritten lyrics for \”A Day in the Life\” sold at auction for $100,000 in 1992.
The lyrics found their way to the auction block again in 2010 where an anonymous buyer paid $1,200,000.
