The beloved Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was found unresponsive in his hotel room before the band was supposed to take the stage at Festival Estereo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia on Friday night. Fans were waiting for Foo Fighters to take the stage at 11pm, when an announcement was made that the band would not be performing. At the time a reason was not given, but news broke shortly after that Hawkins had passed away.
The band released a statement on social media shortly after the news broke:
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infections laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.“
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
